ABOUT BESTOW

Life insurance is one of the world's most important products. It's also one of the hardest to build, distribute, and modernize. Bestow exists to change that.

Bestow is a leading vertical technology platform serving some of the largest and most innovative life insurers. Our platform unifies the fragmented, legacy value chain, enabling carriers to launch products in weeks instead of years. Carriers choose us to scale and operate at unprecedented speed, powered by AI and automation.

Bestow isn't selling policies. We're building the infrastructure that helps an entire industry move faster, reach more people, and deliver on its promise.

Backed by leading investors (Goldman Sachs, Hedosophia, NEA, Valar, 8VC) and trusted by major carriers, Bestow is powered by a team that moves with precision, purpose, and heart. If you want to help reimagine a centuries-old industry with lasting impact, join us.

Bestow offers flexible remote/hybrid work, meaningful benefits, equity, and substantial growth opportunities.

Bestow uses E-Verify to confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees. To learn more about E-Verify, including your rights and responsibilities, please visit E-Verify.gov.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Bestow is moving fast, which means our financial engine needs to be high-performance, not just functional. We are looking for a Senior Accountant who wants to do more than just "keep the lights on." This role is central to our ability to scale our financial infrastructure alongside the business.

You will report to the GL Accounting Manager and own material segments of our general ledger operations. You will also serve as the lead for company expenditures, ensuring that our spend is accurate and compliant.

This isn't a maintenance role. We expect you to find inefficiencies and build something better in their place. Whether you are redesigning a reconciliation workflow, tightening a control, or researching the GAAP treatment for a new transaction, you are here to build a more resilient system.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Process Improvement and Automation. You will actively identify repetitive or error-prone workflows and drive automation across our tech stack. Your goal is to ensure our tools are properly integrated and operating as a reliable single source of truth.

  • Expenditure Ownership and AP Operations. You are the primary lead for all company spend. Every AP invoice, corporate card transaction, and employee reimbursement runs through your review. You ensure proper coding and policy compliance across a high-volume environment. You aren't just there to flag errors; you are there to help the team navigate spend correctly and efficiently.

  • Vendor & Internal Stakeholder Management. You are the point of contact for vendors and employees on all things payables. You will resolve billing discrepancies and partner with internal teams to help them understand our expense policies. Your credibility comes from being accurate, responsive, and a helpful resource for the company.

  • Month-End Close and GL Ownership. You own specific, material segments of the GL. You will produce audit-ready reconciliations and workpapers while hitting firm close deadlines. We maintain a standard of documentation that holds up under external scrutiny and requires minimal explanation.

  • Audit Support and Internal Controls. You will support the GL Accounting Manager during the annual audit by providing clear support for financial statement positions. You will also execute and refine the control framework that keeps our operations clean, flagging gaps and enforcing protocols before they ever reach an auditor.

  • Technical Accounting and Policy Development. This is a significant growth opportunity. You should have the technical foundation to read a standard, apply guidance, and document a position. As you grow, you will take on increasing ownership of formal accounting memos in areas like capitalized software (ASC 350-40) and stock-based compensation (ASC 718).

WHO YOU ARE

You are precise by nature and systematic by habit. You take ownership seriously and don't need to be asked twice to fix something that isn't working. You love digging into a problem until you find the clean solution, and you have the technical grounding to execute it.

The Essentials

  • 4 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience. We prefer a foundation in public accounting at a Big 4 or national firm followed by industry experience in a high-growth SaaS or Fintech environment.

  • Operational Knowledge. You have a strong understanding of AP operations and the controls required to keep high-volume transaction environments clean.

  • Technical GAAP Foundation. You can research a standard and draft an initial position. Experience with ASC 842, 350-40, 340-40, or 718 is a plus.

  • Systems Experience. You have hands-on experience with an ERP like NetSuite. Working knowledge of Ramp or Bill.com is a benefit.

  • Education. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. An active CPA license is highly preferred.

  • Communication. You can document a position clearly for both internal reviewers and external auditors.
