Our mission at Percent is to power purpose in every company and nonprofit worldwide. We already work with 30+ industry giants such as Google, HSBC & TikTok. We enable them to quickly and easily build giving into their products, enabling nonprofits to access these innovative new funding streams.
Our donation volume is growing rapidly: in 2021 we donated $3.5m. In 2022, $120m, and in 2023 we donated over $1bn. This year our mission is to enable over $3bn of donations to good causes. To achieve this we need you.
Join our series A startup and make a difference as our Head of Finance
As a vital member of a small team of super-achievers, you will work directly with the CEO and Fractional CFO to develop a best-in-class finance and fin-ops function. This is a broad role where you will receive guidance and coaching from the Fractional CFO and support from outsourced teams in delivering your responsibilities.
You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, non-profit operations, and compliance teams to develop, maintain, and improve our fin-ops processes. This is a strategic role where you will make a lasting impact on how the business operates. Your time initially will be divided approximately as follows: 60% fin-ops, 20% internal finance, and 20% Percent charitable foundations.

As Head of Finance, your mission will be to:
Fuel Percent’s success as we strive to make a lasting impact and transform nonprofits with cutting-edge technology solutions. In this role, you will:
- Develop, maintain and improve financial operation processes and controls to support the growth of the business.
- Ensure timely and accurate disbursement of funds to charities.
- Oversee the accounting and finance activities for the Percent Foundations.
- Develop the financial processes related to our new SaaS / Marketplace business.
- Work with our Fractional CFO to deliver the monthly management accounts and investor/board pack including cashflow forecasting.
- Work with the CEO & Fractional CFO on forecasting and departmental budgeting for internal use and external fundraising.
- Handle Statutory reporting, payroll, VAT and R&D tax credits.
- Manage Bi-annual share options grants.
- Liaise with and be the key point of contact for our outsourced teams (Fin-House and Accountancy cloud) and ensure they are meeting agreed SLAs.
- Insurance renewals.
- Manage treasury, day-to-day banking and payments.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required.
In 6 months, success will look like:
- The Fin-Ops function consistently meets SLAs, resulting in happy clients and nonprofits.
- Percent’s finance function adheres to all deadlines for management accounts and investor reporting.
- Trustees of Percent’s charitable foundations have full confidence in the financial reporting.
- Established strong relationships with department leaders and initiated the development of departmental budgets.
- Implemented enhancements to the management accounts pack for better clarity and insight.
This role would be a good fit for you if you have:
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a senior accounting position.
- Industry Background: Experience in a technology or regulated company environment is advantageous but optional.
- Proven experience building a finance function from the ground up.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously.
- Enjoys collaborating with other business units such as product and engineering teams to build processes.
- Proficiency with Xero and advanced Excel skills.
Bonus points, but not required, if you have knowledge or love of:
- Working in a Series A, Series B startup.
- Experience in technology or nonprofit/social impact environment.

- Salary: £100,000+
