xLight is seeking a leader for our People Operations to build a world class people systems infrastructure and team that delivers competitive benefits, compensation, and policies that create a positive and productive work environment for xLight’s employees as we grow. In this role you will partner closely with xLight’s senior leadership team to define and implement a People Operations strategy to support our ambitious goals and nourish our people-positive culture. Our goal is to continue building a diverse and dynamic company that is delivering against a long arc of deep-technology that will transform advanced technologies. You will be joining a mission-driven team committed to commercializing particle accelerator technologies for critical US economic and national security applications.

This role will leverage existing people management systems and drive new systems as we scale. The People Operations team enable both our full-time and part-time, hybrid/remote and on-site employees and support expansion in new geographies as we build our first full-size prototype and production facilities.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Evolve and implement our people systems processes, policies, and workflows to foster high performance and employee engagement through a period of rapid growth
  • Refine employee handbook, policies, and as well as process “playbooks” that define roles and responsibilities to enable effective execution, including training content and guidelines for managers and employees
  • Oversee the implementation and continuity of comprehensive compensation and benefits programs for xLight including pay and equity plans
  • Establish a user experience feedback loop for the People Team and drive continuous improvement initiatives that work for all xLighters in our hybrid workforce arrangements
  • Partner with other leaders across the company to align and execute a people strategy that supports corporate goals and key results – then work with teams to enable efficient organizational scale
  • Support day-to-day functions across all aspects with a vision and plan to build out and lead the People systems staff as the company grows

Key Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as an HR leader with a minimum of 5 years in technology, preferably in computer hardware, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, or related technology manufacturing focused businesses
  • Experience in staffing a growth company - scaling from 25 to 1000+ employees, with a track record of building effective HR operations that deliver an excellent user experience
  • Experience leading HR for manufacturing bring-up (e.g., setting up people practices for an hourly workforce including labor relations and partnering with Manufacturing and Safety teams) or with hands on staffing experience at a medium-sized technology manufacturing company
  • Demonstrated experience directly developing and implementing HR systems; ability to design, implement, and iterate HR systems, processes and procedures that meet the evolving needs of a rapidly scaling business and its people
  • Experienced team leader building out an HR team, developing strategy and then hiring support staff for a full complete People Operations team
  • Excellent communication and influencing ability with all levels of the organization - skilled listener and empathetic communicator who navigates hard conversations with grace and clarity
  • Experienced manager and coach with a track record of developing employees’ skills and supporting their wellbeing while holding a high standard of performance
  • Strong working knowledge of best-practices for compensation, benefits, and career architecture deployment

Salary Basis: Annual

This job posting contains the base salary range that xLight believes it would be willing to pay for the posted job. The actual salary offered will be determined within the posted range based on a candidate's experience, credentials, and expertise as they pertain to the requirements of the position. Geographical factors may also be a consideration. In addition to a competitive base salary, xLight offers health benefits packages with life and disability insurance, a 401K plan, a flexible spending account, paid time off, and long-term incentive compensation.
