System Admin Engineer, Corporate IT

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to lead our IT infrastructure supporting the company’s day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. The IT System Admin will support the IT infrastructure and drive system wide improvements to support the operations of a technology startup. The ideal candidate will have extensive direct administrator experience across personal IT assets, corporate asset management, enterprise software used for most business operations and working with engineering teams. The individual will have excellent communication skills managing competing priorities across stakeholders of a rapidly growing deep-technology startup.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Administrator Responsibilities: Maintain systems for day-to-day operations across all corporate IT systems.Expertise in all aspects of help-desk situations and enterprise-wide corporate software. Respond to issues and proactively plan for scalability as we turn on new systems and hire more individuals.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and prioritize security risks within the realm of system admin. Deploy and maintain appropriate systems, building and enforcing a culture of connectivity, efficiency, and security. Manage single-sign on, credential management, and other access systems.
- Security Architecture: Work closely with IT security companies to provide robust and secure solutions protecting against cyber threats. Promote security awareness and best practices throughout the organization.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure they adhere to the organization’s IT requirements, security standards and practices.
- Monitoring, Reporting, Supporting: Implement systems across help-desk, on-boarding, enterprise high performance computing, and continuous monitoring of the organization’s IT systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- Proven experience (5+ years) in IT with a track record of rapidly scaling systems or supporting large-scale technology deployments at technology or manufacturing organizations
- In-depth knowledge of system administration and enterprise management systems
- Strong understanding of network and application security, data protection, and incident response strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
- Relevant certifications are highly desirable (MS-102, MTA, Okta CP, JAMF, Linux SysAdmin – LFCS/RHCSA)
Compensation
This job posting contains the base salary range that xLight believes it would be willing to pay for the posted job. The actual salary offered will be determined within the posted range based on a candidate's experience, credentials, and expertise as they pertain to the requirements of the position. Geographical factors may also be a consideration. In addition to a competitive base salary, xLight offers health benefits packages with life and disability insurance, a 401K plan, a flexible spending account, paid time off, and long-term incentive compensation.
